Finish Strong
Reflection
As we draw to the end of this reading plan and think ahead to Gather25, it is our prayer that we, the body of Christ, respond to the charge of Paul, who had been on an incredible journey throughout the book of Acts, but now as he draws near to the end of his time here on earth he writes to the younger Timothy.
This is truly a beautiful piece of writing. His charge to his disciple is ‘Keep your head, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, and discharge all the duties of your ministry.’ Our heart at Gather 25 is that what we do to gather the global Church, and how we serve, helps you discharge all the duties of your personal ministry.
Prayer
Lord, would you help us to pour ourselves out for the sake of your gospel. Our world needs you like never before, please come, and heal our lands, have your way in us and may your kingdom come.
2 TIMOTHY 4:1-7
1 I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: 2 preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. 3 For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, 4 and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. 5 As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.
6 For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure has come. 7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
